List of Largest Cities in Iowa

Iowa is a state in the Midwest of the United States, surrounded by the Mississippi River and the Big Sioux River. It is the only state in the United States that is fully bounded by rivers on both the eastern and western sides. According to 2013 estimates, the states spanned an area of 145,743 km2 with a density of 21 km2 and had a population of 3,090,426 people.

Des Moines is the biggest and capital city of Iowa State, located in the Polk and Warren counties. Incorporated in 1851, the city has a total population of 207,510 projected in 2013 on a total area of 213 km2 with a density of 900 people per square mile. At 1,074 people per square kilometer, Iowa City has the greatest population density.
