Generally, Australian kids, much like any other kids around the world, don’t relish bath time, and they will fight tooth and nail to put it off for as long as possible. They obviously need to have a wash due to the many things that they get up to each day, and it is your job as the parent to make bath time a less stressful event. It is the one thing that will help to calm your kid down, and once you get them in there, they generally enjoy the whole experience. It’s going to take a little bit of hard work and planning on your part, but it can be done.

One of the first things that you can do is to buy a childrens towelling robe, because kids don’t like you rubbing them fiercely with a towel and giving them this option is a much better choice. They get to dry themselves off, but it helps to keep them warm as well. They come in many different colours to suit boys and girls, and a number of different patterns as well. This is just one of the top ways to make bath time an enjoyable experience for your kids, and the following are some others.
Prepare, prepare, prepare
Like anything in life, if you are properly prepared, things seem to run more smoothly. When it comes to children, you really do need to prepare for bath time as soon as possible. If you are running around like the proverbial headless chicken, you’re going to stress out your kid, and it will not be a nice experience for them at all. The key is to keep your child calm and have everything ready, including their towelling robe, tear-free soap, a bath mat on the floor so that they don’t slip and finally, their pyjamas for a good night’s sleep.
Keep bath time the same
If you pick an actual day of the week and a particular time when they must take a shower or bath, it prepares your child for what is going to happen. Every parent knows that using the same pattern and routine helps children relax. It might also be a good idea to give constant reminders as the time comes for them to shower. Equally important, remind them how long is left of their bath time, before it’s all over.
Provide some distractions
This could be something like their favourite toy, a rubber duck or a submarine that floats in the bath and many other things. If you make bath time fun, it just makes it easier for everyone involved. It’s also a good idea to have some of their favourite music playing in the background, and maybe even something that you like to listen to yourself.
Choose the right design
This is in relation to the bathroom itself, and many parents don’t really take their children’s needs into consideration when they decide to renovate. If you have more than one child, you want to make their bath time as easy as possible for everyone involved. This will involve you making better decisions when it comes to the layout and making it easier to store toys. Investing in some waterproofing would be an excellent idea because kids like to play, and they like to splash.
Bubbles are a great idea
There isn’t a kid in the world who doesn’t enjoy bubbles, and this is money very well spent on your part. It is not difficult to convince any child to have a bubble bath, and the essential ingredients are very good for your child’s skin as well. Be sure to choose wisely when you go shopping for what you want to put into the water, and ensure that it is something that is child-friendly and won’t sting their eyes. Figure out if your child has sensitive skin or not, and make your purchasing decisions based on this. It doesn’t hurt to buy something that is also suitable for adults, because it’s only fair that you get to enjoy your bath time as well.
Make it more educational
There is no reason to think that bath time couldn’t be educational as well. If you have many different colours of toys in the bathtub, you could teach them about that, and incorporate some of their favourite animals as well. You could also apply stickers to the tiles around the bathtub itself, showing many different things like letters, numbers, and so much more.
If you follow these three pieces of simple advice, there’s absolutely no reason to believe that your kids’ bath or shower time shouldn’t be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved, every single time.
